National Learn-to-Row Day

Ready to try something new—or get back to something you’ve missed?
Join Fort Worth Rowing Club for National Learn-to-Row Day 2026, a high-energy, adult-focused open house designed to introduce new participants, welcome former rowers back, and celebrate our growing community. Whether you’re stepping in for the first time or returning after time away, this is your chance to reconnect, learn, and get involved.

This is a land-based, beginner-friendly event—no on-water experience required.

What You’ll Experience
Get a hands-on introduction to rowing in a fun, low-pressure environment. You’ll learn the fundamentals of technique using indoor rowing equipment (called “ergs,” short for ergometers), explore how practices and programs are structured, and meet the coaches and members who make up our community.

This is more than a demonstration—it’s your opportunity to picture yourself here.

Event Schedule
9:00 AM – Welcome & Mingling
9:30 AM – Erg (Rowing Machine) Session
10:00 AM – Learn to Cox Session
10:30 AM – Boat Naming Ceremony
11:00 AM – Erg (Rowing Machine) Session
11:30 AM – Learn to Cox Session

Drop in when it works for you—stay for a 30-minute session, an hour, 90 minutes, or jump in for the full experience. We’ll meet you where you are and get you involved.

Naming Ceremony (10:00 AM)
As part of the day’s events, we’ll host a special boat naming ceremony—an opportunity to celebrate the growth of our fleet and the people who make this club possible. Join us as we recognize supporters, share a bit of rowing tradition, and mark an exciting moment for Fort Worth Rowing Club.

Return to Rowing
If you rowed in college, high school, or at any point in the past, we’d love to welcome you back.

Learn how to transition back into rowing at your own pace, connect with other adult rowers, and explore current training opportunities. Whether you’re looking for fitness, community, or competition, there’s a place for you here.

More Than Rowing: Find Your Role
Not sure rowing is for you physically—but still want to be part of the team?

Coxswains play a critical leadership role, responsible for steering, communication, and race strategy. It’s an ideal fit for those who enjoy leading, motivating others, and being at the center of team performance.

You’ll get an inside look at the role and how to get started—no prior experience required.

Who Should Attend
  • Adults curious about rowing
  • Former rowers ready to get back into the sport
  • Individuals looking for a new fitness routine
  • Team-oriented people interested in a competitive or recreational environment
  • Future coxswains interested in leadership and strategy

What to Bring
Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that is form-fitting (loose clothing can get caught in equipment). Bring water and any questions you have—we’ll take care of the rest.
