The Fall Trash Bash had a great showing from the Fort Worth Rowing Club. Thanks Bonnie Jefferson Parker for heading up the Fall 2017 club effort. Club members joined over 6,500 other volunteers devoted to keeping the Trinity clean. Lori Bratcher and Bonnie set up a Club display at the Panther Island after party.
Thanks to all those that helped out: Krista B, Jenny S, Amy B, Bill B, Frank R, Karen T, Amberly N, Pat M, Kirk, Sally W, and Al H Twenty-nine athletes registered for six events at this year's Henley on the Trinity, but due to the combination of lightning, high water, and debris on the course resulted in scratching the on-water racing; instead 20 of rowers competed in ergo poker. Competitors ran 1000m pieces in five events, converted the resulting times into playing cards and awarded this year’s Henley pint glasses based on poker hands. As you’ll see, smart rowers pulled scores with lots of ones while the others sawed away with virtually no strategy.
Thank you, Sue-Ann Hall, for being our starter, Pete McIntosh for taking results & photos, Tom Carr for serving up coffee and bagels, and White Rock Boathouse for hosting us. Thanks, everyone, for your good-humored response to lousy weather and please, come back in late spring 2018 for our next go at Henley style racing.
